Laura Zarougian is a singer-songwriter based in New York's Hudson Valley. Her debut album, Nayri, draws from country, folk, and rock, while exploring themes of her Armenian and Middle Eastern identities. She refers to this genre as "Armenian Cowgirl."
She has been an open mic host, poet for hire, purveyor of vintage cowgirl boots, barista, and an elementary school art teacher. She has been a returning guest on Red Hook's WKZE and periodically co-hosts with her husband and drummer Mike Hams on his show "Balance Check" on WGXC.
Mitch Mosk of Atwood Magazine writes, "Her voice is a wellspring of feeling, and her guitar work is at once tender, tempered, and turbulent."
